PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability and the service life of constitutive equipment in a dual mode telephone system, to decrease power consumption as much as possible and to limit radio transmission to occupy a frequency space at all the time as much as possible. SOLUTION: A mobile telephone can be switched from communication with public base stations 3 and 4 to communication with a dedicated base station 1 by a changeover switch 9. By installing the set of the mobile telephone on a stand 16 at the dedicated base station, the stop of position message transmission by a position determining function F2 can be instructed from the set of the mobile telephone (22). When the set of the mobile telephone is picked up from that stand, an opposite instruction 22 for executing the transmission of a position message again is transmitted as soon as possible.
