The compound 7 beta -methyl-16 beta -((4-methylsulfonyl)-phenoxy)-4-aza-5 alpha -androst-1-en-3-one is an inhibitor of the 5 alpha -redctase 1 isozyme, and is useful alone or in combination with a 5 alpha -reductase 2 inhibitor for the treatment of hyperandorgenic disorders such as acne vulgaris, seborrhea, female hirsutism, male pattern baldness, and benign prostatic hyperplasia, and in pharmaceutical compositions. |
