PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare an aromatic polyamide film for magnetic recording media, which is excellent in strength, easy sliding property and handling properties such as winding property and exhibits high shaving resistance. SOLUTION: There is provided a biaxially stretched film comprising an aromatic polyamide which contains inorganic particles comprising hydroxide salts or carbonate salts of at least one metal selected from the group Ia and IIa metals in the periodic table and having an average particle size in the film of 80-1,000 nm, the inorganic articles being obtained as a residue of a neutralizing agent in a polymerization process, and has a frequency of the surface protrusion of 1×10<1> -1×10<5> pieces/mm<2> , the sum of a Young modulus in the longer direction and that in the width direction of at least 2,000 kg/mm<2> , a flexural rigidity in the longer direction of 3.0-9.5 mg.mm, a tensile strength at break in the longer direction of at least 38 kg/mm<2> and a heat shrinking ratio in an arbitrary direction at 150 deg.C of less than 1%. |
