LIGHT SENSOR AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a response to a visible light and a good response to a light information by forming a photoconductive layer comprising a charge generating substance contacting with an electrode and having a sensitivity to a visible light area and a liquid crystal charge transporting substance. SOLUTION: In the present light sensor 1, an electrode 3 comprising a transparent electrode film is formed on a substrate 2 made of a glass and a charge generating substance having a sensitivity to a visible light area is vapor- deposited to form a film and to make a charge generating layer 4. This charge generating layer 4 and an electrode 3a of a substrate 2a on which a transparent electrode layer is formed are opposed and joined through a spacer 10 to form a liquid crystal introducing cell. Then, a liquid crystal charge transporting substance is poured into the liquid crystal introducing cell thus formed to form a liquid crystal charge transporting layer 5. At this time, a high speed and good response to a light information can be realized by using a liquid crystal charge transporting substance of which a charge moving degree is 100 to 1000 times as that of a usual charge transporting substance and has a size of approximately, 5×10<-3> cm<2> /Vs for the charge transporting layer.
