摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy control ignition system for an internal combustion engine which increases fuel ignition performance for low air fuel ratio up to maximum and extends the life of an electrode to the maximum limit. SOLUTION: An energy control ignition system 100 for an internal combustion engine has a primary coil 102 and a secondary coil 104, and includes an ignition coil connected to first and second electrodes of an ignition plug 40 defining spark gaps 65 between both coils. The primary coil 102 responds to activation of a control signal, and generates spark voltage between the both ends of the secondary coil 104, and in the spark gap 65. The secondary coil 104 responds to the spark voltage, and generates discharge current in the spark gap 65 of the ignition plug. One configuration is provided with a means 118 for limiting the discharge current under a threshold current value within a given time period after activation of the control signal, by extracting discharge current so as to separate it from the ignition plug.
