PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the production line tact including measurements and accelerate the feed back of data measured by a coordinate measuring machine by measuring the shape or size of a work with the probe of the coordinate measuring machine placed near the work at a waiting position after machining by a machine tool. SOLUTION: Near a horizontal type machining center(M/C) 20 e.g. having a horizontal, main shaft 22 of a machine tool, a horizontal type three- dimensional coordinate measuring machine(CMM) 50 having a probe 52 mounted on a horizontally movable spindle 54 is disposed, the probe 52 of CMM 50 is moved near a work at a waiting position after machining by M/C 20 to measure the shape of the work, i.e., the measurement is made by CMM 50 when an NC controller sends a report instruction of the turning completion of an auto pallet changer(APC) 26 to CMM 50, a measuring indexing mechanism turns the work e.g. 90 deg. every measurement of one side face, and the measurement is repeated to measure all the side faces. |
