PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for detecting an overload capable of rapidly detecting the overload without being affected by the degree of the rotational speed. SOLUTION: A counted value of a drive side counter 3a is compared with a counted value of a load side counter 3b every time when the counted value of the drive side counter 3a reaches the judging interval pulse number T, and a judgment is made whether or not the difference between two counted values is larger than a specified allowable value. When 'larger' is judged, an overload is detected, and when 'not larger' is judged, the drive side counter 3a and the load side counter 3b are reset. A value according to the rotational speed N of a drive side power transmission shaft Sm is set to the judging interval pulse number T. The overload can be rapidly detected even in a case of a gear pump device or the like where the rotational speed is low. |
