PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflective liquid crystal display having a bright white display, a high contrast, a blurred picture under control and a symmetrical viewing angle characteristic. SOLUTION: A forward scattering film layer 10 is arranged together with a polarizing film 11 and a birefringence film 12, on the upper transparent substrate 14 of a reflective liquid crystal display. The scattering film layer 10 is constructed by films, which have scattering characteristics of a transmitted light from a region of an angle of incidence varying depending on the region of the angle of incidence specified by the angle θ between the direction of the incident light on the film and the film normal (0 deg.<=θ<=90 deg.) and the angle ϕbetween the projected component of the direction of the incident light in the film plane and the reference direction in the film plane (0 deg.<=ϕ<=360 deg.), and which have the same maximum value of the angle θ of the second region of an angle of incidence where the transmitted light is scattered stronger than the transmitted light from the first region of an angle of incidence, arranged at least so as any two of them not to have the same angle ϕ. |
