摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect and display the exact residual capacity of a battery regardless of the occurrence of deterioration. SOLUTION: A state of charge SOC3, where a decline rate of the possible output power of a battery exceeds a prescribed value, is supposed as SOC 100%, and a state of charge SOC4, where the possible input power is equal to the possible output power, is supposed as SOC 0% as well. SOC of the battery is obtained based on an open terminal voltage at the time when SOC of the battery is 100%, an open terminal voltage at the time when SOC is 0% and an open terminal voltage of the battery detected by a voltage detector, and then a residual capacity is displayed by the SOC. Therefore, the capacity of a new battery and the capacity of a deteriorated battery become apparently nearly equal, so the apparent capacity does not reduce even when the battery is deteriorated, and SOC of the battery can be easily detected by the open terminal voltage, and besides, even when the battery is deteriorated, an actual residual capacity does not become smaller than the residual capacity displayed value.
