PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition for a powder coating material which has improved thermosetting properties and gives a coating film improved in water resistance, appearance, impact resistance, and weather resistance by mixing a specified vinyl copolymer with an epoxy-containing compound. SOLUTION: 1-30 pts.wt. vinyl monomer containing a silyl group of the formula (wherein R<1> is a 1-10C alkyl, a 6-10C aryl, or a 7-10C aralkyl; X is H, a halogen, hydroxyl, an alkoxyl, phenoxy, a thioalkoxyl, an acyloxy, aminoxy, a ketoximate group, amino, amido, or an alkenyloxy; and a is 0-2) is copolymerized with 1-30 pts.wt. vinyl monomer having a carboxyl group and/or an acid anhydride group and 98-40 pts.wt. other copolymerizable vinyl monomers to obtain a vinyl copolymer having the silyl groups as the main crosslinking groups and having a glass transition temperature of 40-100 deg.C and a number- average molecular weight of 2,000-20,000. 100 pts.wt. this copolymer is mixed with 2-30 pts.wt. compound having at least two epoxy groups in the molecule. |
