PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ethylene andα-olefin copolymer excellent in moldability capable of forming a film excellent in transparency and mechanical strength by copolymerizing ethylene andα-olefin. SOLUTION: This copolymer satisfying the following relation is obtained by copolymerizing ethylene and a 6-8Cα-olefin: 9.0×MFR<-0.64> >MT >2.2×MFR<-0.84> (MT is melt tension at 190 deg.C, MFR is melt flow rate at the same temperature); [0.039Ln(C-2)+0.0096]×x+2.87 <=[0.039Ln(C-2)+0.1660]×x+2.87 [Ea is the activation energy (Ea×10<-4> J/molK) of the flow calculated from the shift factor of the overlap of the time-temperature of the flow curve,; C is the carbon number of theα-olefin in the copolymer,; (x) the content of theα-olefin in the copolymer (x mol.%)]. This copolymer is preferably obtained by copolymerizing the monomers under the presence of a catalyst for olefin polymerization comprising an organo aluminumoxy compound and a transition metal compound.
