The device has at least three pads (32) movable between one position where the hollow element (31) can threaded onto the device and a second position where each pad is moved radially in relation to the axis of rotation of the device (30). The pads are actuated in such a way that when a hollow element is on the device, each pad is at equal distance from the axis of rotation of the device. The pad actuation comprises a spring (330) liable to be moved according to the axis of rotation of the device, a central part (331) solid with the spring, and at least three linkage mechanisms (332), each mechanism being solid, on the one hand with the central part, and on the other hand with a pad. Each linkage mechanism forms a distorting parallelogram.
