PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoreceptor having no insufficient charge spot, hard to be curled or to elongate, hard to generate warping, and having no scattering in its conical shape by providing a specified support substrate layer containing a specified polyethylene naphthalate and a hole carrying layer capable of carrying a hole through a hole carrying layer while maintaining the injection of holes from an optically generated hole charge generating layer. SOLUTION: A support layer is composed of polyethylene naphtalete substantially containing no oligomer having a glass transfer temperature of about 100 deg.C-140 deg.C, a thickness of about 75-125μm, and a Young's ratio of about 650,000-1,000,000 pound/inch<2> . A hole tranport layer that can transport holes through a hole transport layer has an electric charge generation layer that is substantially non-absorptive in a spectrum range where the optically generated hole is generated and implanted. The hole transport layer can maintain the injection of the optically generated hole from the electric charge generation layer.
