摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the problem that hydrogen is hard to be released because of too high stability between an Mg-rare earth hydrogen storage alloy and hydrogen and to obtain a hydrogen storage alloy capable of easily realizing a hydrogen storage occluding electrode having a large discharging capacity by incorporating it with an alloy ingot having a specified compsn. or the pulverized material thereof. SOLUTION: This invention contains an alloy ingot or the pulverized material thereof having a compsn. expressed by the formula of Mg1-a-b Rla Mlb Niz and is obtd. by a casting method or a sintering method in such a manner that a hydrogen storage alloy raw material is heated to melt, is cast and is thereafter subjected to heat treatment, where Rl denotes one or more elements selected from rare earth elements including Y, Ml denotes one or more elements selected from the elements having electronegativity higher than that of Mg (where the elements in Rl, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, Zn and Ni are excluded), and 1<=a<=0.8, 0<=b<=0.9, 1-a-b>0 and 3<=z<=3.8 are satisfied.
