PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic cell in which electrolytic reaction using a gas diffusion electrode can be efficiently carried out even when the cell is large in size, and to provide a highly efficient producing method of hydrogen peroxide by using this electrolytic cell. SOLUTION: This electrolytic cell has a cathode room and an anode room divided by a cation exchange membrane. The cathode room is packed with a porous carbon electrode, and oxygen reduction reaction is performed on the cathode. When the projected plane of the porous carbon electrode on the cation exchange membrane is H (cm) height, the thickness W (mm) of the porous carbon electrode is controlled to within±20% of W0 defined by the formula of W0 =5×[1+0.1×log10 (H-9)], wherein H ranges 10 to 200. Hydrogen peroxide is produced by using the electrolytic cell above described. |
