摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light diffusion plate, capable of forming an optical element and liquid crystal display device, which can have fine areas with optical anisotropy formed through an easy operation and have a superior uniform distribution of them and is hard to be generated of a decrease in contrast and white out-of-focus of a black display even when arranged between a liquid crystal cell and a polarizing plate for the purpose of preventing blurring and out-of-focus of an image. SOLUTION: The light diffusion plate has microcrystal areas (e), consisting of identical macromolecules, dispersed and distributed in a transparent macromolecular film 1 and also has differences in refractive indices between the microcrystal areas and other parts to have light scattering property, the optical element consists of a laminated body of the light diffusion plate and a polarizing plate, and the liquid crystal display device has the light diffusion plate or optical element on one or both the sides of the liquid crystal cell. Consequently, they can be mass-produced by a conventional film forming method and linear polarized light transmitted through the polarizing plate can be transmitted through the light diffusion plate, while having its polarized state maintained well or by eliminating scattering.
