PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an olefin resin foam which is excellent in flame retardance, generates smoke little on burning, and has uniform cells and a good external appearance by compounding an olefin resin comprising a propylene resin and an ethylene resin with a specified amt. of a flame retardant comprising ammonium polyphosphate, a nitrogen compd., and a metal oxide. SOLUTION: An olefin resin in an amount of 100 pts.wt., comprising 30-85 wt.% propylene resin and 15-70 wt.% ethylene resin is compounded with 5-200 pts.wt. flame retardant which comprises ammonium polyphosphate, a nitrogen compd. of formula I, and a metal oxide and the residue of which at 1,000 deg.C (measured by thermogravimetric analysis) is 10 wt.% or higher. In formula I, X is amino, a (1-6C)-alkyl-substd. alkylamino, morpholino, piperidino, or piperazino; and Y is HN(CH2 )m1 NH or a group of formula II (wherein m1, m2, and m3 are each 2-6). Pref., the flame retardant comprises 40-94.9 wt.% ammonium polyphosphate, 5-40 wt.% nitrogen compd., and 0.1-20 wt.% metal oxide. |
