PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a character display device of which constitution is simple and adjustment is easy, also constitution of a control device is simple, and which can be installed at an arbitrary place and is inexpensive. SOLUTION: Light emitting rivets 201 -20n to which address setting lines are sequentially connected in series are arranged in a matrix state, and an address is set to each light emitting rivet 201 -20n using an address setting pulse sequentially propagated in this address setting line. Set addresses are stored in non- volatile memories in a control section of each light emitting rivet 20. After that, display characters are decided, addresses of light emitting rivets for displaying character patterns are obtained, and transmitted to a light emitting control device 11 through a communication channel and the like. The light emitting control device 11 transmits light emitting conditions and addresses of light emitting rivets to each light emitting rivets 20, and sends out a light emitting pulse. Thereby, only a desired light emitting rivet is emitted, and a desired character is displayed. |
