PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold catalyst of a cylinder bank which is stopped operation in an internal combustion engine having at least two cylinder banks to an operation temperature at a high operation reliability in a partial load operation by a simple means. SOLUTION: A multicylinder piston internal combustion engine 1 has at least two cylinder banks 2, 3, exhaust systems 4, 5 having catalyst 6, 7 are attached to these cylinder banks 2, 3, and one cylinder bank 3 can stop operation in a partial load operation of the internal combustion engine. A connecting part 8 is provided between the both exhaust systems 4, 5. The connecting part 8 is provided between conduit parts 9, 10 of the exhaust systems 4, 5 in the upstream of the catalyst 6, 7 and length compensation elements 11, 12, 13 are provided at least one of the conduit parts 9, 10 or the connecting part 8. |
