The latch comprises a key operated outside lock lever (6) and an inside lock lever (7) to which a lock motor (13) is linked by a reduction gear mechanism (16). An antitheft lever (46) is moved between an antitheft position (G) and an antitheft canceled position (H) by a separate antitheft motor (42). The antitheft motor and reduction gear mechanism are arranged side by side, with the space between them occupied by the antitheft lever. In the antitheft position, the antitheft lever is engaged with a gear member (24) of the reduction mechanism to prevent unlocking of the lock.
