Device to help in finding one's car after it has been left in a strange place or in an area where the driver is not at home

The device comprises a mobile terminal (MT) independent of a vehicle (KFZ). The mobile terminal includes a memory (MEM), while a data transfer device (TRMS) on board the vehicle is linked to a navigation system (NAVS) storing position data of the vehicle. In this way when the vehicle driver is in the neighborhood of the car it can send a message to the handheld unit. The latter can then display vehicle co-ordinates or other details.
