CABLE CONNECTION DEVICE AND METHOD

A device for electrically connecting cables to each other or to an electrica l circuit. The device includes a housing (1), having at least one hinged wing (11) or otherwise movable member. At least one conductive spike (10) is provided within the housing such that, when the cable is positioned proximal to the spike (10), and the hinged wing (11) is closed to cover the cable, th e spike (10) pierces through the insulation of the cable and the cable is retained in electrical connection with the spike (10). The hinged wing (11) is either permanently closed or may be reopened for release of the cable. Vario us support means, such as by using biased projections (2, 3) may be used to urg e the cable into correct position. The electrical circuit may also be containe d within the housing.
