An ignition lock in a car has a key mounting (3) movable by an electronic key (5). To the key mounting is assigned a locking device (4) which can be brought out of engagement with the key mounting to block the movement of the key mounting in engagement with the key mounting as well as to release the movement of the key mounting. The locking device can be operated by an actuator (6) for the release after positive evaluation of an electronic code exchanged between the key and the lock. There is a locking device (7) for the steering column (2), the gear shift lever or similar, whereby a locking member (9) of the locking device can be brought in a first position into locking engagement with the column, lever, etc. and in a second position, out of engagement. With movement of the key mounting, the locking member can be moved between the two positions. A safety device that can be operated upon removal of the key from the key mounting is assigned to the locking member so that in the second position a return movement of the locking member into the first position is prevented with the safety device non-operated. The actuator serves additionally to operate the safety device (12). A control of the actuator is only possible to operate the safety device when the key is removed from the key mounting and the car is found to be stationary.
