Portable electronic equipment may be secured from theft with a device comprising a box or a framework (1) with a lid (3) or a barrier (21) which may be locked to the box or framework (1), the box or framework being equipped with a line, chain or wire (5) with a hoop (6) at its end. The hoop provides a possibility of locking the box/frame (1) to an object, e.g. a pole, by using a padlock (9). The barrier (21) may optionally be locked to the frame (1) with a cross-bar (12) running between opposite sides (3, 3') of the frame (1).
