METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION OF BARKHAUSEN SIGNALS

Method and apparatus for counting the number of Barkhausen Signals in a Barkhausen Burst in real time, by amplifying the Barkhausen Burst pulses, discriminating the amplified pulses according to a predetermined threshold value, counting those that are above said threshold, reading the pulse count at constant time intervals and storing the count readings. Pulses that are above the predetermined threshold value may be shaped into a TTL compatible square shape. The apparatus comprises an amplifier, a discriminator which transfers to a counter only pulses which are higher in voltage than a predetermined threshold value and a memory for storing the readings of the counter.
