An automotive piston engine has a rotating crankshaft which suffers from rotary oscillations which are reduced by a mass balance which moves to the right or left as required. The roll oscillation counteracts the engine movement and has a first oscillation mode. The engine has a second oscillation dampener consisting of the motor crankshaft with fixed flywheel and a transmission system.
