Reductive alkaline chemical depilatory composition, forms no crystals or agglomerates on storage

Magnesium hydroxide, optionally in combination with another alkalinity source, is added to a depilatory composition containing a reducing agent, to give a pH of at least 10. A depilatory composition, containing 1-10 wt. % of a reducing agent, additionally contains 1-25 (preferably 1-5) wt. % magnesium hydroxide and 0-10 (preferably 0.1-7) wt. % of another alkalinity source (I), such that the composition has a pH of at least 10 (preferably at least 11). A 1 wt. % aqueous solution of (I) has a pH of at least 10 at 20 deg C.
