The present invention relates to an apparatus for loading and unloading glass articles or similar articles, said apparatus comprising a fixed support structure which has a vertical axis; a rotary support structure which is coupled in axial relationship with said vertical axis; transport stations spaced with respect to each other on said rotary support structure; impulse means coupled to said rotary support structure in order to rotate the latter in a predetermined time relationship between a loading position and an unloading position; means for transferring and holding the articles at each of the transport stations in order to hold and turn over the glass articles with an angle of 180 DEG C between said loading position and said unloading position; and control means coupled to the rotary support structure and to the article holding and transferring means in order to ensure the sequential operation of said apparatus.
