The heaters have an air/waste gas system for supplying combustion air in the counter-current to the waste gas guide. The flow resistance on the combustion air side can be adjusted continuously with a choke in the form of a screen (7)or flap, without affecting the direct fuel regulations, and according to the temperature conditions in the air/waste gas system. The combustion air side flow resistance is automatically adjustable by a bimetal element.
