A transmitter (1) sends out signals (3) at set distances into an area of a room (2). A receiver (5) is attached to each item to be protected (4). The transmission signals are received only within the defined area of the room. The receiver sets off an alarm as soon as it moves outside the defined and cannot receive signals.
