The blade ring has a crown of blade packets with a concentric rotor. Each blade packet has a blade carrier (1), a blade clamping plate (2) with a blade (3) clamped in a sandwich structure between them, and a wearing plate (4) towards the rotor. The blade (3) is angled against the radial direction. Each wearing plate (4) forms an outlet slit for the chips with the neighboring cutting blade. The leading surface (3.2) of the blade forms a takeoff channel (5) with the adjacent end surface (4.1) of the wearing plate (4). The walls (3.2, 4.1) of the chip takeoff channel (5) are parallel to each other or they diverge in the chip flow direction. An Independent claim is included for the production of a wearing plate where the component is initially formed conventionally such as by casting, followed by numerical controlled (NC) milling and grinding. A casting is made at least of the part of the component which is subject to wear, to give a negative model. The section of the complete component subject to wear is removed in a defined operation. The negative model is used to cast a wearing section, using a material of the required characteristics, so that the wearing and main parts of the component are bonded together. Preferred Features: The wearing plate is composed of two parts, where one is for the zone subject to wear and the other less exposed to wear in use. The main part is produced by conventional casting, with structured milling and grinding. The wearing part is of a tougher material than the main part, and they are both joined together. The negative model is attached to the main part so that its inner contour matches the outer contour of the main body, to define a hollow zone matching the wearing section of the component. The hollow zone is filled with a casting mass of the required characteristics. The negative model is produced before the first use of the component.
