A macro-porous ion exchange resin used as a bulk material is exposed to a CO2 containing environment. Preferred features: The styrene polymer is cross-linked with divinyl benzene and contains primary benzylamine functional groups. The degree of cross-linking is between 2 and 10%. The porosity is from 20 to 30% with a mean pore diameter between 200 and 300 Angstrom . The concentration of functional groups is between 2 and 3 moles/l.
