PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture piston rings having various thickness, axial height and characteristic by manufacturing a wheel cylinder while thermally spraying the spray material onto an outer peripheral surface of a mandrel, and coating the surface of the wheel cylinder with a film working as a sliding film, and finally, cutting a piston ring from the wheel cylinder. SOLUTION: A peripheral surface of a mandrel 1 has an abutment mark 10 formed of a beam-like projection extended in the axial direction. A nozzle 2 is relatively moved in the axial direction in relation to the mandrel 1, and the surface of the mandrel 1 is coated with the spraying powder from the nozzle 2 by thermal spraying. The coated thermal spraying powder is immediately pressurized by a roller device 11. Continuously, a base 4 is coated with a sliding film 6. After finishing the wheel cylinder 3, the wheel cylinder 3 is drawn from the mandrel 1, and each piston ring is cut out of the wheel cylinder 3 by a separating tool. |
