RAISING OF SEED PRODUCTION PARENT OF F1 SEED

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a seed production parent capable of producing a plant body having the same genotype as that of an unfixed plant body as a first final generation, remarkably shorten the raising period and conform to market needs by inducing a doubled haploid plant from both of one specific set of haploid cells. SOLUTION: (i) One set of complementary haploid cells derived from the same embryosac mother cell or pollen mother cell of an unfixed plant and produced as a result of the reduction division is differentiated and (ii) a doubled haploid plant is induced from both of the one set of the differentiated complementary haploid cells to prepare a seed production parent capable of producing a plant body having the substantially same genotype as that of an unfixed plant body as a first final generation. The differentiation of the one set of the complementary haploid cells is preferably carried out by culturing an anther or a bud containing pollens (mother cells) and then extracting the pollens from the anther. Seeds obtained by mating of the pair of seed production parents are preferably grown to prepare the first final generation having the same genotype as that of the unfixed plant which is a parent of the seed production parent.
