The follower has a body with a cam follower roller (26) rotatably mounted in a recess between opposite sides (32) on a transverse shaft (30) supported in bores (34) through the sides. Retainer plugs (36) carried by the body close the outer ends of the shaft bores to limit axial motion of the shaft. The plugs are held against the shaft bores by mechanical interlocking with a portion of the follower body.
