PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the residual amt. of a liquid to an emitting orifice surface and to suppress a color mixture to a large extent than ever when the emitting orifice surface of a liquid emitting head for emitting a plurality of kinds of liquids is covered with one capping member to perform restoring treatment. SOLUTION: A liquid emitting head restoring treatment apparatus is equipped with a capping member 44 covering the emitting orifice surface 38 of a liquid emitting head 29 having the emitting orifice surface 38 having a plurality of kinds of emitting orifices for emitting liquids of different kinds provided thereto in an arranged state, a negative pressure generating means reducing the pressure in the capping member 44 to introduce the liquid in the liquid emitting head 29 into the capping member 44, first moving means 51-54 for relatively moving the capping member 44 to the direction opposed to the emitting orifice surface 38 and a second moving means for relatively shifting the capping member 44 from emitting orifices along the emitting orifice surface 38 while the capping member 44 is held to the close contact state with the emitting orifice surface 38.
