PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve printing adaptability, oil resistance, an anti-solvent property, water resistance or the like by laminating a resin composition layer containing carboxylic group-containing polyvinyl alcohol resin and polyacrylic acid salt before constituting a thermal recording medium. SOLUTION: When carboxylic group-containing polyvinyl alcohol resin is prepared by saponifying an unsaturated monomer containing a carboxylic group and a polymer obtained from a vinyl ester compound, such a copolymer is dissolved in alcohol, acetic ester, or a mixed solvent thereof in the presence of an alkaline catalyst. Also, sodium of polyacrylic acid, potassium, ammonium salt, or the like can be used for polyacrylic acid salt blended with carboxyl group-containing polyvinyl alcohol resin. A thermal recording medium is formed by laminating directly or via another layer a layer employing such a resin composition on the base material. |
