PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a highly purified organic onium salt in a high yield without using any reactors with anticorrosion materials and without any processes for recrystallization, by using a compound hardly subjected to hydrolysis as a starting material. SOLUTION: This method is conducted by reacting (A) a salt of the formula NH4 MFn (M is an element of 4 to 16 groups in the periodic table; and (n) is 3 or 4 when M is of 4 group, 4 when M is of 5 group, 4, 6 or 7 when M is of 5 group, 3 or 5 when M is of 7 group, 3 or 4 when M is of 8 group, 3 or 5 when M is of 9 group, 3 when M is of 10 group, 3 when M is of 11 group, 3 when M is of 12 group, 4 or 6 when M is of 13 group, 5 when M is of 14 group, 4 or 6 when M is of 15 group, and 5 when M is of 16 group) with (B) a salt of the formula QOH (Q is an organic onium) in an solution thus obtaining (C) an organic onium salt of the formula QMFn . The component A is pref. exemplified by NH4 BF4 , NH4 PF6 , NH4 AsF6 or NH4 SbF6 . Accordingly, the objective compound useful for e.g. surface-active agents and phase-transfer catalysts is obtained in a high yield and in a high purity. |
