<p>1349040 Making tappets SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO NV 30 Oct 1972 [29 Oct 1971] 49851/72 Heading B3A [Also in Division F2] An I.C. engine valve/cam tappet 1 comprises a thin sheet metal cap having a transverse wall 4 spaced slightly from one end of a cylindrical wall 2 by an annular rim 3 integrally formed by a fold in the metal, a number of inwardly extending indentations 8, formed in the cylindrical wall 2, abutting and rigidly supporting the transverse wall 4 and additionally forming lubricant retaining pockets around the cylindrical wall. The end recess 6, formed by the rim 3, is shaped to receive an interchangeable adjustment plug or washer (not shown) of hard material for direct engagement by a cam (not shown), two diametrically opposed cut-outs 9 being provided to facilitate removal i.e. replacement of the plug or washer. The cap like tappet is formed from a thin sheet metal disc by a series of spinning and stamping operations, Figs. 3 to 11 (not shown).</p> |
