PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the production of an olefin as a set of products by a 4C stream of a steam cracker or a refining apparatus. SOLUTION: This olefin production process comprises (A) a step to perform extractive distillation of butadiene from a 4C stream optionally using a butadiene-selective solvent, (B) a step to selectively hydrogenate butadiene and acetylene impurities in the 4C stream supplied from a steam cracker or a refiner or a stream of the step A and simultaneously isomerize at least a part of 1-butene to 2-butene, (C) a step to remove i-butene from the 4C stream and obtain an ether, (D) a step to remove oxygen-containing impurities from the 4C stream using an adsorbing material and (E) a step to perform the metathesis of butene in the 4C stream in two stages. |
