A self aligning actuator with low bearing wear

The actuator (10) has a slanted bearing support (30) that is mounted directly on wire coil winding (18) and a stator (14). A bearing assembly (25) is mounted on and between a first rotor surface and the bearing support. The bearing assembly has a lower race (44) with a substantially arc-shaped contact region directly contacting the slanted bearing surface. The bearing assembly separates the rotor from the station and is self aligned on the slanted bearing surface in a position that evenly distributes loading on the bearing assembly.
