PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new nucleic acid molecule for production, etc., of enzymes, encoding a protein exhibiting xylanase activity having a specific nucleotide sequence and useful for degradation of xylan produced as a by-product in production of paper, absorption of nutrient and growth and promotion, etc., of livestock. SOLUTION: This new nucleic acid molecule is a new xylanase comprising a nucleic acid molecule encoding a protein having xylanase activity selected from a molecule containing a nucleotide sequence described in formula I or its fragment and a molecule encoding an amino acid sequence described in formula II or its active fragment and is used for production, etc., of enzymes effective for not merely reducing pollution due to waste by carrying out degradation of a large amount of xylan generated during manufacture of paper, but also enhancing absorption of nutrient and growth of livestock with economical advantages owing to a decrease of required feed amount. The nucleic acid molecule is obtained by extracting chromosome from Pseudomonas fluorescens and carrying out PCR amplification cycle of the chromosome by using a primer pair containing both ends of xylanase gene. |
