PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a feed additive capable of efficiently producing livestock having fresh-looking meat which is firm and has fine texture, clear and pale red color and water-holding ability, with the fat portion good in gloss, firmness and tenacity, by formulating bamboo vinegar dried powder, sea algae powder and a green tea hot water extract dried product. SOLUTION: This feed additive contains (A) pref. 1-20 wt.% of bamboo vinegar dried powder, (B) pref. 1-30 wt.% a of sea algae dried powder and (C) pref. 1-10 wt.% of a green tea hot water extract dried product. The ingredient A to be used is obtained, preferably, by dry distillation of volatiles produced in bamboo coal manufacturing process followed by allowing the resultant purified bamboo vinegar acid with tars distilled off to adsorb to active carbon or the like, followed by drying into a form of powder. The ingredient B is obtained normally by drying sea algae such as tangle into a form of powder. The ingredient C is obtained by subjecting green tea leaves to extraction with hot water by an ordinary means followed by drying the resultant extract into a form of powder. It is recommended that this feed additive is added at 0.05-20 wt.% to a livestock feed. |
