PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a catalyst for a long time while maintaining the activity of the catalyst and to make a device extremely economical in a method to decompose and remove chlorine-based org. compds. in an exhaust gas by the catalyst, by previously removing a catalyst poisoning component included in the exhaust gas with an adsorbent. SOLUTION: In a decomposing and removing method of chlorine-based org. compds. in an exhaust gas by using a catalyst, the exhaust gas 3 is first introduced into an adsorbing layer 1 where a catalyst poisoning component in the exhaust gas is adsorbed and removed by an adsorbent. Then, the gas is introduced into a catalyst layer 2 where the chlorine-based org. compds. in the exhaust gas are decomposed by the catalyst and the gas as a purified gas 4 is discharged. In this case, the exhaust gas 3 is required to pass through the catalyst layer 2 after passing through the adsorbing layer 1 and therefore, the adsorbing layer 1 may be disposed on a preceding stage of the catalyst layer 2. The adsorbent to fill the adsorption layer 1 may be periodically exchanged with a new adsorbent in order to maintain the adsorbing performance, or performed to regenerating treatment and used by recycling. |
