PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate a substance capable of controlling the transformation of a smooth muscle cell and obtain a high-quality controlling agent for the transformation of the smooth muscle by expressing a reporter product in the presence of BTEB2 and the substance to be evaluated in a specific host cell and then detecting the reporter product. SOLUTION: A host cell having at least a first vector transferred into a host cell such as a cultured animal cell, a cell line 293 cell derived from the human kidney or a bovine pulmonary arterial endothelial cell line cPAE cell and containing a promoter such as a promoter of a gene having a DNA site binding to BTEB2 produced by a second vector BTEB2 having a BTEB2 gene capable of expressing a BTEB2 protein and encoding a protein aggravating arteriosclerosis and a gene operably connected to the downstream side thereof and capable of encoding a reporter product such as luciferase is used to express the reporter product in the host cell in the presence of the BTEB2 and a substance to be evaluated. The reporter product is then detected.
