The separator for an intermittently working suction transport plant has a dividing filter. The bottom part is connected to a filter pipe line and is provided at its base with a discharge opening. The top part is connected to a suction pipe line and the filter is so dimensioned and loaded that it is lifted by the suction air, and when the flow of the suction air is interrupted it returns to its original position. The filter is loaded by a flap for the discharge opening. The flap is suspended on the filter medium in such a way that it will stay closed when the suction air is flowing in spite of its loaded surface and will open to empty the separator when the flow of suction air is interrupted. The filter (3) includes at least one hose filter (21) freely suspended in the bottom part of the separator and reinforced by rings (23).
