<p>The dual circuit hydraulic brake system has a common pump (2) which draws fluid from a central reservoir (1) and distributes it to two circuits (4a, 4b). Each circuit is protected by a pressure control valve (10, 11) whose valve elements are held in the open position by the interaction of the pressure in each system, balanced against the pressure in the other system, and backed by an internal spring force. If any system fails then its valve automatically shuts off the supply line so that the remaining circuit is ensured a supply of fluid, and with no excess fluid leakage from the faulty circuit.</p> |
