PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress adverse effect of 'inclination' of the mirror surface of a polygon mirror onto an image. SOLUTION: A laser beam scanning section 10 emits a laser beam having first and second peaks providing an intensity distribution on the plane of a photosensitive drum 61 to be scanned separated substantially by a scanning pitch (d) in the subscanning direction. Exposure by the peak of a laser beam on a next scanning line is superposed on the exposure by the peak of a laser beam on the a previous scanning line thus forming a single dot. |
