FIELD: electrical engineering; permanent-magnet electrical machines. SUBSTANCE: electrical machine has stator with set of conductors and rotor with permanent-magnet excitation system. Air gap is provided between stator and rotor to form active surface. Rotor is external part that carries saturated permanent magnets alternating in direction of rotation with sections of permeable material; permanent magnets are made of material whose permeability approaches that of air and their width is increasing with distance from active surface of rotor as measured in direction of rotation; width of permeable sections is reducing with increase in distance from rotor active surface facing air gap. Permeable sections have surface facing rotor active surface and passing output magnetic flux; it is smaller than total surface area of magnetic flux sections of both permanent magnets abutting against it with the result that magnetic flux is concentrated towards rotor active surface. Width of stator poles of machine, as measured in direction of rotation, is almost equal to that of surface of magnetic sections that passes output magnetic flux.
