The owner carries a transponder which can be detected within the vehicle to determine valid use of the vehicle. The antitheft system for a motor vehicle includes a processor which is capable of recognizing a main identifier which authorizes the deactivation of the vehicle immobilization system. It also includes a system capable of recognizing a secondary identifier which comprises a radio link with a transponder carried by the rightful user of the vehicle. This action does not require active operation by the user, but is carried out automatically at regular intervals during the operation of the vehicle. If the transponder replies as expected, then the vehicle may continue to be used, but if it fails to respond the vehicle immobilizer system is brought into action. This may act upon the vehicle indicators, the vehicle door locks and can simulate a vehicle breakdown. |
